The Strategy, Organisation and Management Group (SOM) at Aalborg University Business School is a new research group with a focus on the organisation, strategies and business models of incumbent firm and startups. SOM stands for Strategy, Organisation and Management and symbolises in this way our research interests.

At the micro-level, the group is particularly interested in leadership, careers, inequality, job satisfaction, ethics, promotions and the impact of HRM practices on employees. At the macro-level, organisational change, organisational culture, transformation, digitalization, ecosystems and uncertainty are among the current strong interests of the group.

The teaching includes core courses in organisation and strategy at both the bachelor and master levels at the school. The SOM group has an ambitious strategy to improve both teaching and research by increasing the outreach and impact of our research projects. We aim at publishing our research at the highest international level.

The members of the SOM research group provide teaching on several different educational programmes at Aalborg University.

Our teaching activities and topics broadly follow the SOM group's focus on strategy, organisations, and management. We, like our colleagues at the Business School, strive to improve our study program to ensure students have the best experience using problem-based learning.

We teach core courses and electives on full time and part time educations at bachelor's, master's and PhD levels.

We are involved in the following educational programmes (among others):

• Master in Business Administration (MBA / part time) (in Danish)

The SOM group does throughout the year invite scholars from other universities to give research talks. These guest speakers also do one-on-one meetings with the Business School faculty. If you are interested in a one-on-one with a guest speaker, that is already planned in the calendar, feel free to reach out to Bala at bala@business.aau.dk and we will keep you updated on the possible timeslots for a meeting.

Similar to the seminars, we are also facilitating internal presentations at our brown bag meetings. Here members of the Business School can present early or late-stage work to get feedback and ideas to progress the research.
