Active debater, political watchdog and persistent fact-checker. Per Nikolaj Bukh who does research on management accounting and control at AAU Business School is all of these.
Now he can also call himself Denmark's fourth most cited expert according to Akademikerbladet's list of Danish media's 50 most cited experts in 2024.
Per Nikolaj Bukh is a regular participant in the public debate on the future of the Danish economy. He asks critical questions about political decisions and often brings overlooked issues to light. The aim is to promote constructive dialogue and find solutions.
The management accounting professor primarily emphasizes contributing important information and thus also influencing what is discussed in the media and how.
He considers fourth place on Akademikerbladet's expert list as a recognition of the work of qualifying the public debate. However, the list itself is not crucial factor for him.
"We are facing major challenges and changes where finances, governance and responsibility are central themes. Expert knowledge in management accounting is closely linked to some of the issues we as a society must address. This applies to everything from efficiency in the public sector to responsible use of resources and transparency," says Per Nikolaj Bukh.
Per Nikolaj Bukh has long topped the list of the most cited researchers at AAU Business School. Head of Department Mette Vinther Larsen is proud that he is now also in the top ten on Akademikerbladet's expert list.
She emphasizes the importance of sharing research results and well-founded insight with the general public. Therefore, she is delighted that Lars Krull, Senior Adviser and Banking Researcher at AAU Business School, is also on the expert list where he is in 24th place.
"I am extremely pleased that Per Nikolaj Bukh and Lars Krull are so often invited into the public debate for their expertise in management accounting and financial companies. They have a keen eye for how current economic and business economic issues can be understood and handled. Their prominent place in the public debate is well deserved, as the list shows," says Mette Vinther Larsen.
