The ESARC Conference comprises parallel full paper with discussants, developmental paper sessions and a doctoral stream.

The conference welcomes submissions on multiple themes within the general scope of Sustainability Accounting and Sustainability Reporting that includes, but is not limited to, the following research areas are of interest:

• The purpose of the modern integrated corporate report
• Implementation of ESRS in corporations
• The effectiveness of sustainability reporting standards
• Sustainability accounting measurement, metrics, KPIs and disclosure
• The composition, visualisation, and format of sustainability reports
• Sustainability accounting, reporting, and accountability in the public sector
• Auditing and assurance of sustainability reports and the future of auditing standards
• The role of sustainability accounting and sustainability reporting in capital markets
• ESG reporting versus sustainability reporting
• Data sources for ESG information, including ERP, CRM and other business intelligence systems
• Double materiality and business risk assessments
• Current issues in the Sustainability Reporting Standards Arena

The ESARC Conference welcomes papers using different methodological, empirical, theoretical, and conceptual approaches, including action research, case studies or experiments. Papers are invited on these topics and on other aspects of Sustainability Accounting and Sustainability Reporting.

Papers should be submitted by 31st May 2024 (please mark as FULL or DEVELOPMENTAL paper) by emailing to esarc@business.aau.dk

Abstract and Full Paper

Please submit an abstract and full paper (up to 12,000 words) for parallel sessions. Discussants will be allocated to full paper submissions, and we expect that all presenters will be prepared to act as discussants on other papers and to chair a session. Please submit an abstract (maximum 500 words) or short developmental paper (up to 5,000 words) for developmental paper sessions.

Notification of Acceptance

The acceptance of submissions will be announced by 7th June 2024

Registration & Early Bird Fee

The registration opens 1st February 2024 and the Deadline for the Early Bird Fee (1.500 DKK) is Friday 21th June 2024. Thereafter, the conference fee will be 2.000 DKK.

Getting to AAU from the city centre

Bus number 2 goes to the University (AAU-kantine) from the city centre. Buses run every 10-15 minutes. Journey time about 20 minutes. Travel by train

The Aalborg train station is a mainline train station and is easily accessible from most other places in Denmark, as well as from Europe via Intercity trains.

Travel by air

The Aalborg airport is well connected with many international flights and many flights to Copenhagen international airport. Taxi can be taken from the airport to your place of accommodation or the venue. Bus number 12 also drives from the airport and to the city centre. View a schedule.

Travel by car

The Aalborg University Campus is approximately 1.5 Km from the E45. There are free parking lots available at AAU Innovate, Thomas Manns Vej 25, 9220 Aalborg, Denmark.
