Every year the European Sales Competition (ESC) gathers participants from more than 20 universities across the continent who compete for the title of “best negotiator”. The 2020 edition was organised by University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt in Austria from December 1-3 and took place online due to the COVID-19 situation.
Throughout the competition Corina Alonso Saavedra worked on a fictive case, in which she was a sales representative selling products to Roxcel Trading, a global company in the paper trading industry. Each round of the competition was a part of this selling process. For Corina it has been an amazing opportunity to try out how real sales looks like in "the real world".
- I learned a lot about strategy and sales techniques and I believe this is very important for my future. Making it to the finals makes me feel very happy and proud, because I know that even though the competition was challenging I learned a lot and I understood how to work on a real life case, says Corina Alonso Saavedra.
Promotion for AAUBS and its Marketing programme
Corina’s mentor at AAU Business School Karina Burgdorff is very proud of Corina’s placement in the competition and the fact that she was able to reach the finals:
- The judges where impressed with the overall level, and Corina did an excellent job. It is also important to acknowledge that Maiken Nørgaard Sørensen made it to the semi-finals, so both our representatives did very well in the competition. For AAUBS it is important to be part of the European Sales Competition as part of our new Marketing programme. Internationally this helps promote our programme and school to both relevant researchers, teachers and students. Being a part of ESC is a great way to promote AAUBS to companies as the judges are from business.
