WIID - Workshop on Institutions, Innovation and Development

Institutions, Innovation and Development

Workshop organised by the IKE-group May 4th and 5th 2009

In May 2008 we organized a workshop on ”Institutions, Innovation and Development” at Aalborg University. It was a successful event which resulted both in fruitful and interesting interaction among participants and in a collection of the working papers presented, published in the working paper series of the Department of Business Studies, Aalborg University. We now want to repeat last year’s success and invite interested scholars to participate this year.

We have identified three sub-topics that will structure the event. Each topic will be allocated a number of participants that will either present or give extensive comments. The topics are:

  1. Financial Crisis, Innovation and Development
  1. Innovation, Systems and Development
  1. New Perspectives on Innovation and Development

The workshop pivots around themes as learning, innovation and institutional economics. Invited speakers are encouraged to present new ideas. The style of the workshop will be one of informal interaction and discussion rather than standard presentations. Speakers appearing in the same session are expected to comment each other’s papers. Such a format is suitable for identifying new important research areas within the realm of innovation studies and economic development.

The intention is to use the occasion to strengthen research on developmental issues within the IKE-group through the involvement of other research groups and independent researchers (from inside or outside Aalborg University) with similar interests.

Researchers, Ph.D. students and master students connected to the research groups involved are invited to participate in the workshop.

NB: For the sake of overview and organization please notify the organizers if you (Professor, Ph.D. student or Master student) intend to participate - send registration to allanda@business.aau.dk.
