Ongoing Research Projects
The IKE Group and its individual members have traditionally been involved in several external and internal projects. The group has recently been involved in the following major research projects:
Danish Research Unit for Industrial Dynamics (DRUID)
DRUID was established in 1995, based on funding from the
Danish Social Science Research Council (SSF) and the Danish Ministry of Industry. DRUID is operated jointly by the Department of Industrial Economics and Strategy, Copenhagen Business School, the Department of Business Studies, Aalborg University. Scholars at the Kolding Campus of Southern Denmark University and at Aarhus Business School also take part in all activities
of DRUID. Currently (2002-2004) DRUID is funded by Danish Social Science Research Council (SSF), the Danish Ministry of Economic and Business Affairs, and by the Danish Research Training Council (FUR).
DRUID began as a Danish research network, but has evolved into "hub" of a large international network in industrial dynamics though the activities undertaken
during DRUID's existence. The core of these activities consists of the organisation of two annual conferences and an internationally well-recognised electronic working paper series. One of the conferences (the one held in the Winter) is an opportunity for DRUID PhD students, as well as for PhD students from the international network, to present thier work in front of DRUID senior members and invited international guests. The (larger) Summer conference is devoted to a specific theme of interest to DRUID. One example of such a conference was the 2001 DRUID Nelson & Winter Conference.

Dynamics of Institution and Markets in Europe (DIME)
The DIME NoE (Network of Excellence) seeks to integrate three dimensions of economic analysis and social sciences,
and in particular geography and economic geography to address: the analysis of the generation, accumulation, and exchange of knowledge; the study of governance, institutional frameworks and public policies; and the analysis of social and spatial proximity as influencing cohesion and the above.
One essential goal is to address contemporary challenges facing the European Union, its member states, its companies and its citizens in managing the transition to a knowledge-based economy and society in the context of its enlargement and of the globalization of the economy.

Globelics
The Global Network for Economics of Learning, Innovation, and Competence Building Systems (GLOBELICS) is a global network of scholars who apply the concept of "learning, innovation, and competence building system" (LICS) as their analytical framework. The network is especially dedicated to the strengthening of LICS in countries in the South.
The basic intention behind GLOBELICS is to create a global network of scholars who apply the concept ‘systems of innovation and competence building’ as their analytical framework. The idea
is to bring together relevant information about what is going on in different places of the globe and to share experiences worldwide regarding methodological issues, analytical results and
policy relevant experiences among senior scholars. In doing so, it is hoped to provide a continuous mixture, in the GLOBELICS language a “cooking pot”, of new ideas, thoughts and research and
policy proposals which might also be of particular interest to PhD-students.

ServInno
This project will explore innovation processes in Nordic service firms and their policy implications, with the aim of increasing understanding of service innovation and identifying relevant policy measures to public authorities and service firms. In order to study the patterns of innovation in each service sector, the main drivers of innovation, and the diversity within each sector, the project will develop and apply a typology of service activities and innovation. This analysis and typology can then be used as policy tools to evaluate current policy measures in Nordic countries.
Funded by Nordic Innovation Centre.
Participating institutions: IKE (Denmark), CFA (Denmark - project leader), Aarhus School of Business (Denmark), SINTEF (Norway), Linköping University School of Management (Sweden), SC Research (Finland), RANNIS (Iceland), BI (Norway).

Aalborg Center for Research and Communication of Regional Research (ACE-project)
The purpose of the center is threefold. First, we want to strenghen the research based knowledge foundation for carrying out policies of regional development.
Second, we want to secure and improve the dialogue between researchers and practitioners in the field. And finally, we want to contribute to the competence development of researchers and practitioners. These aims will be reached by initiating research education programmes and research projects in the area of regional economic development.
