National Systems of Innovation - Towards a Theory of Innovation and Interactive
Learning. Lundvall, B-A. (ed.), London, Pinter Publishers, 1992.
2nd paperback edition, 1995.
The book has the form of a reader with twelve different authors - Francois
Chesnais, Jan Fagerberg and Christopher Freeman together with nine scholars from
the IKE Group - but the fourteen chapters have been designed so that the book
should give a coherent analytical approach to and a reasonably complete picture of
national systems of innovation. The first part of the book presents the analytical
approach with its focus upon interactive learning. The second part analyses the
most important elements of a system of innovation. The third part focuses upon
the openness of national systems, and upon international economic integration and
globalization. The final chapter discusses public policy in a learning society.
